CenterStage’s production of Guys and Dolls brings the lively world of 1950s New York City to the stage with memorable performances, excellent vocals, and energetic song and dance. The bright lights of the set transport the audience to Times Square, creating the perfect setting for this classic musical. From the colorful characters and humorous moments to the familiar songs and lively dance numbers, the production captures the fun and spirit of the show. With a talented cast bringing these well-known characters to life, CenterStage delivers an entertaining evening of classic musical theater.

Josh O'Brien as Nathan Detroit brings plenty of personality and humor to the role of the fast talking schemer. Julie McGuffey is also a standout as the vibrant Miss Adelaide, bringing humor and charm as Nathan’s long suffering fiancée, although their relationship seems comical yet affectionate. Pete Lay is equally strong as the suave and smart gambler Sky Masterson, while Mary Kate Venagas delivers a memorable performance as girl-next-door Sarah Brown. Together, Lay and Venagas create an engaging pairing as Sky and Sarah's relationship develops throughout the show.

The cast's vocals are strong throughout the production, bringing the musical's well-

known songs to life. The ensemble is especially strong during the show's large musical numbers, filling the stage with energy and talent. These include “Luck Be a Lady” sung by Sky Masterson (Pete Lay) and gamblers during a high stakes craps game and “Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat”, the high energy gospel infused number led by Nicely-Nicely (Phil Gosselin) in a scene at the Save-a-Soul Mission.

The choreography is another highlight of the production. The song-and-dance numbers are lively, well performed, and filled with energy. The cast moves together smoothly, and the choreography makes good use of the stage while adding to the excitement of each musical number. "Havana" and "Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat" are particular standouts. These energetic numbers are fun to watch and add to the excitement and energy of the show.

With its talented cast, strong vocals, lively choreography, and bright 1950s Times Square setting, CenterStage's Guys and Dolls delivers an enjoyable production of this beloved classic. The combination of memorable performances and energetic musical numbers makes for a fun night of theater!
