Clue Based on the film by Jonathan Lynn Written By Sandy Rustin Directed by Mark Femia Review by Erin Hargan Entire contents are copyright @2025 by Erin Hargan. All rights reserved.

The murder mystery “Clue” has remained a cult classic for generations, and Clarksville Little Theatre brings the game and movie to life on the stage with a fast paced farce featuring hilarity in a mansion full of suspicious characters. This production treated the audience to an evening of humor and suspense on a stage designed for physical comedy.

The atmosphere on stage was set just right  for a murder mystery.  Thunder rumbled and lightning flashed in the background as the actors playing Wadsworh and Yvette were busying themselves in anticipation of welcoming the guests.  One by one the eccentric guests arrive at Boddy Manor in Washington D.C..  The guests are treated to dinner, and from there the mystery and chaos ensues.

At the center of the evening’s chaos at Boddy Manor is Wadsworth, the impeccably proper butler, played with great energy by Mike Bittenbender. Bittenbender guided the action of the play, often leading the other characters through the chaos.  The actors playing the other suspects each brought their own wit, energy, and comedy to the stage. Jon Ernstberger embraced the role of Colonel Mustard with his character’s dense arrogance.  Cindy Smith entertained the audience with her character Mrs. Peacock’s over the top dramatics and hysterical antics.  Jadawn Ross played the glamorous and sly Miss Scarlet with the confidence her character required. Mr. Green’s awkwardness and charm was captured by actor Nyck Antonyo.  Hannah Jones Thomas played Mrs. White with a gloomy demeanor with her deadpan delivery of one liners. Jeremy O’Brien charmed the other characters in his role as Professor Plum, even though the audience saw his darker side. Erin McMahon plays the mischievous maid who may not be as innocent as she seems.  The supporting characters (played by Jon-Michael Murphy, TJ Lewis, Amanda Dwyer) added to the mystery and comedy of the production.

Clarksville Little Theatre’s production of Clue provided the audience with an evening of laughter and suspense.  The cleverly designed set portrayed several different rooms in Boddy Manor, giving the actors space to lean into the campy humor with exaggerated body movements, over the top characterizations, and precise comedic timing. The hghly energy raced through  every entrance, exit, and suspicious glance which kept the audience laughing and guessing.  Who knew murder could be this much fun?
